One of the unique parts of Copperleaf’s culture is our Random Acts of Delight (RAD) program, where team members have the opportunity to give back to local communities and support causes close to our hearts. Here are some of the fantastic things we did this spring!
Stanley Park Beach Cleanup
This March, a group of Copperleaf volunteers spent the morning at the beach… picking up garbage! It was our first RAD effort focused on cleaning up a greenspace and the team decided on the area in and around Second Beach at Stanley Park. You’ll be happy to know that we found that the beach area was pretty clean, so we split up and explored the park areas, pathways, and beyond, to fill up our garbage bags.
Some of the more unusual items we found included a full jar of mayonnaise, a gigantic pair of men’s underwear, and two air mattresses! We even received a few thank yous from passersby, which made our day.
Vancouver Sun Run
In April, eight brave souls from our Copperleaf team competed in the 33rd annual Vancouver Sun Run. Despite a 50% chance of rain, we managed to stay relatively dry. Community support was great, with bands, volunteers, and supporters all lining the streets. We also enjoyed being cheered on by tons of creative people – some of our favorites were dressed as Mario and Luigi holding cardboard “power-up” stars, and a runner wearing a full T-Rex costume.
Through our bake sale and individual fundraising efforts, the team was able to raise over $1,500 for a great cause – the BC Children’s Hospital.
Our RAD initiative had a great start in 2017, and we look forward to coming up with new fun ways to give back to our communities this year.
Until next time!
