Introducing our European RAD Initiative (#Better World)

European RAD Initiative

Marie Hemingway, one of the talented senior consultants on our Customer Experience team, sat down with us to discuss the European RAD initiative, how it is supported by the Copperleaf™ culture, and our goals for this new program.

What is the Copperleaf RAD initiative?

Copperleaf RAD (which stands for “Random Acts of Delight!”) is an initiative which enables our people to become involved in supporting causes close to our hearts.

Any Copperleaf employee can suggest a charitable activity and form a team with colleagues who feel that they can make a difference. It’s a fun way for us to support the things that matter to all of us, give back to our local communities, and motivate our people to get involved in positive change. Over the years, we have supported the SPCA, WaterAid (in conjunction with Anglian Water), children’s charities and more.

Taking RAD to the next level! What is Team Europe planning?

After much research, it became clear that many charitable organizations struggle with how to make the optimal use of their available funds. They simply don’t have an easy way to determine where to spend their donations to achieve maximum impact. And so, I’m very excited to say that after working with the team in Europe and Vancouver over the last 3 months, we are ready to launch our European RAD initiative!

We are offering to collaborate pro bono with a charity partner to develop a Copperleaf Value Framework. We’re also inviting our charity partner to join our Copperleaf Community which will enable them to exchange best practices across industries and sectors.

I’ve informally codenamed the offering #BetterWorld which I really hope sticks!

What drove the decision to deliver a RAD initiative so close to Copperleaf’s core business?

Our company’s purpose statement is “Building a better world, one decision at a time”, and that is what we strive to do each day, by helping our clients optimize the value of their investments. Every engagement starts with the development of a Copperleaf Value Framework, which allows for the consistent assessment of the value of every investment across an organization, while respecting constraints and ensuring alignment to strategic objectives.

We are very proud of our highly successful private and public sector clients, across multiple industries, who are using C55 and the Copperleaf Value Framework to make better investment decisions for their businesses. Realizing it was time to take it one step further, our RAD objective in Europe was to do something with a significant positive, and lasting impact. We couldn’t think of a better way to achieve this, other than to “do our jobs” for a charity!

We hope that by improving the way our charity partner spends their donations, it can directly impact the individuals who benefit from the charity, as well as their donors and employees.

How does this initiative fit into the Copperleaf culture? How important is that to the team?

Every single person we shared the idea with across the company wanted to put forward their view on how to make this initiative more valuable for our charity partner, understand how they could help progress the idea and offered their support in making it a reality!

This is just a great example of how every employee cares about making our world “a better place”, and we’re very lucky to have cultivated a culture that supports this!

What can we expect to see next?

We’re inviting charities that invest at least part of their funding in physical assets to engage with us if they’re interested in maximizing the impact of every pound spent to achieve their objectives.
