Here at Copperleaf, we take our company culture very seriously. We believe that building a positive work environment fosters innovation, creativity, and quality. We believe it’s the people that make the biggest difference in a company, and that culture is vital to attract and retain the best people. It has been instrumental in creating the outstanding success we have seen to date in our market!
A big part of attracting and retaining the best people is creating an atmosphere that encourages teamwork, and helping new employees learn about our culture and become part of the Copperleaf team. One example is the wooden puzzle cube shown in the above photo, which you’ll find on people’s desks and in meeting rooms throughout our office. Each side of the cube highlights one of our values.
One of our key cultural values is to “Embrace Fun”, and we do that in many ways including hosting company events—usually involving some sort of challenge—to give all of us a chance to get to know one another, and gain an appreciation and respect for people with different talents, on different teams.
This summer, we had a sports day challenge where the activities ranged from archery to raft building to origami. What became really evident throughout the day was that it was the team that was strong. All of us have strengths in some areas and not in others, and being able to work together to come up with the winning strategy using all of the talents of the team was the key to success!
Each October, we host our “Pumpkin Classic” event, featuring a costume and pumpkin carving competition. And each year, I’m amazed at the creativity of our people! I’d like to share a video from last year’s event, where one of the teams came up with an ingenious “costume” and topped it off with a dramatic performance!
