Spotlight on VISUE: The Power of Teamwork

Danish utility consortium VISUE recently celebrated a number of exciting successes. From award submissions and triumphs to the expansion of its asset management footprint, the organisation continues to go from strength to strength.

VISUE is owned by a number of Distribution System Operators (DSOs) that provide services to over 1.5 million electricity customers in Denmark. Through the implementation of the Copperleaf® Decision Analytics Solution, VISUE provides asset investment planning and management (AIPM) capabilities to participating DSO members:  KONSTANT, TREFOR El-net, Dinel, RAH, Netselskabet Elværk, Flow Elnet, and most recently, Vores Elnet.

“We are delighted to have Vores Elnet join the group of DSOs who use the Copperleaf solution to help them make better asset investment decisions. This fantastic news is a testament to VISUE’s continuing commitment to deliver value to our members, customers, and the Danish society as a whole,” said Claus Lund, CEO of VISUE.

These successes over the last three years have led VISUE to renew its partnership with Copperleaf by extending its contract for another five years.

The VISUE Story

Distribution utilities around the globe face similar asset management challenges–limited resources, evolving customer expectations, a lack of clarity on current and future risk exposure–that add complexity to investment decision making. In Denmark, like many other countries, there is also no common approach prescribed by the regulator for evaluating and reporting on asset health and performance.

Individually, the electricity operators do not have the capacity or funding to implement an AIPM solution in each DSO. Instead, they joined forces to investigate asset management methodologies in other countries that would enable them to plan investments and manage risk in a streamlined and optimised way.

Working together, VISUE, its participating utility members, and the Copperleaf team adapted the British CNAIM (Common Network Asset Indices Methodology) for monetised asset risk modelling to fit the needs of the DSOs and the Danish energy sector. This resulted in a localised CNAIM Value Framework embedded within the market-leading asset risk management solution, Copperleaf Asset™.

Celebrating Success

The VISUE story was recently selected by Copperleaf clients as the winner of the ‘Copperleaf Community People’s Choice Award’—an honour that showcases industry success and highlights the benefits of using the Copperleaf solution in an innovative way. The winning submission celebrated the teamwork between VISUE, participating DSOs, and the Copperleaf team—all working together to co-create a Danish CNAIM model and support a value-based decision-making process.

VISUE has also been shortlisted for the Team Achievement Award by the Institute of Asset Management (IAM). This award celebrates an operational team or department who has made a significant contribution to their organisation or the asset management knowledge base. The winner will be announced on October 17.

“VISUE is an inspirational member of the Copperleaf Community, dedicated to delivering exceptional value to its members, and we look forward to a long and successful partnership,” said Stefan Sadnicki, Managing Director of Copperleaf for Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

Working with Copperleaf has been a fantastic experience. We have already accomplished so much through this collaboration, and the DSOs are delighted with their work so far. We are excited to see what the future holds and can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.
