Copperleaf RAD Brings the Heat to TechPong 2019!

On November 7th, over 1,000 people from Vancouver’s tech community gathered at Science World to attend TechPong, one of the biggest tech events in Vancouver. Hosted by Charitable Impact, TechPong brings together local tech companies every year to face off in an epic ping pong battle in the name of charity. This year, the tournament raised over $65,000 for many great causes!

Tournament competition was fierce but it was all for a good cause. For Copperleaf™, that means raising money for our Random Acts of Delight (RAD) initiative which encourages employees to get involved and support charitable causes that are important to us.

Copperleaf was represented by George Feng and John Chen for the doubles competition and Rippu Gupta who returned to reclaim her title as TechPong winner in the singles competition! A huge congratulations to our players for playing hard and making us all proud!

For the second year in a row, Team Copperleaf chose to raise money for the Huntington Society of Canada, which delivers counselling services to support individuals and families living with Huntington’s Disease. They also fund medical research to slow or stop the progression of the disease.

As this cause impacted a fellow Copperleafer, the whole company got really passionate about helping out. In addition to TechPong, we held a bake sale, trivia game, and even a hot wings challenge to help raise over $18,000 towards this worthy cause. We are very proud to have been one of the largest contributors to the Huntington Society of Canada this year.

“TechPong is a great example of how B.C.’s tech sector gives back to the community year after year,” said Bruce Ralston, Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology, Government of British Columbia. “In addition to raising funds for worthy causes, the event also provides a forum for the provinces’ growing number of start-ups and tech companies to build valuable connections that help keep the sector thriving.”

We had a blast at the event and can’t wait to return for TechPong 2020!
