Vancouver, BC, December 13, 2021—The Copperleaf® Decision Analytics Solution has been selected by National Grid US Electricity Distribution to optimize its Asset Investment Planning and Management (AIPM) processes. National Grid is one of the largest investor-owned energy companies in the US, serving more than 20 million people throughout New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.

National Grid US Electricity Distribution is the fourth business unit within the global organization to leverage Copperleaf’s solutions. In 2016, the Copperleaf solution was implemented at National Grid to enhance decision making for its gas distribution infrastructure in the northeastern US, and in 2018, the company expanded the Copperleaf system to its electricity and gas transmission operations in the UK.

The Copperleaf solution, along with the Copperleaf Value Framework, will enable National Grid US to objectively compare projects, programs, and portfolios, and identify the optimal investment strategy within the bounds of its operational and regulatory performance requirements. It will also help National Grid develop an optimized plan, manage the asset investment planning process, drive plan adherence, and ensure investment decisions are aligned with strategic goals and commitments.

“We’re excited to be leveraging Copperleaf’s decision analytics solution as part of our new work planning digital product,” stated David Smith, Head of Business, Process, Digital & Performance at National Grid. “This will provide a data-driven way to optimize our construction work plans—delivering sustainable, reliable, and affordable electricity for our customers.”

“We are thrilled to further strengthen our relationship with National Grid by supporting its electricity distribution business in the US,” said Miranda Alldritt, President, Copperleaf. “Our growing engagement signals the trust that National Grid has in Copperleaf and our solutions—and the value this provides to the organization, and its investors and customers.”
