The Institute of Asset Management (IAM) recently published the first nine Subject Specific Guidelines (SSG). The SSGs expand on the 39 Subjects covered in the IAM’s Anatomy (and in GFMAM’s Landscape) – adding much needed techniques and case studies to illustrate how asset managers can implement asset management in line with ISO 55001’s requirements. The SSGs are written by IAM member industry experts and are peer reviewed.
As an active member of the IAM, Copperleaf is pleased to be able to sponsor these documents and support the technical work of the IAM. The first 4 SSGs cover 9 of the 39 subjects in the IAM’s Anatomy, including:
- Strategy and Planning: covers Asset Management Policy, Asset Management Strategy and Objectives and Asset Management planning
- Asset Management Decision-Making: provides guidance for Life Cycle Value Realization
- Asset Information: provides guidance in carrying out better management of asset information, including Asset Information, Strategy, Standards and Management
- Organisation and People: provides guidance relating to Organisational Structure and Organisational Culture and their role in delivering good asset management.
The IAM is aiming to publish the full suite of documents by June 2017 and is always looking for volunteers to contribute their expertise and insights to the upcoming SSGs. Our European Sales & Business Development Manager Stefan Sadnicki is helping to put the finishing touches to the SSG on Criticality and Risk Management, and I’m working on the SSGs on Capital and Operational Decision-Making.
Stay tuned for more information on upcoming SSGs, or visit the IAM to learn more or join an SSG team.
