Vancouver, BC, June 28, 2016—Copperleaf’s 2016 AIPM Summit brought together a record number of attendees from around the globe to discuss decision analytics and the future direction of the Copperleaf C55 solution. Hosted in Vancouver, BC from May 10-12, the event featured educational sessions and roundtable discussions on a variety of topics, beginning with the “State of the Nation” address by Judi Hess, Copperleaf CEO, followed by interactive discussions on the Copperleaf Value Framework, using C55 to communicate with regulatory bodies, the future roadmap of C55, and more.
“This year’s summit was our biggest ever, with almost 60 clients, prospects, partners and industry experts in attendance from Europe and across North America. We more than doubled last year’s numbers and it was exciting to see the level of interaction and knowledge sharing, and how Copperleaf’s decision analytics solution has impacted these organizations,” said Judi Hess. “There were a number of very impressive client presentations, including a panel on the value of optimizing with C55 led by speakers from BC Hydro, Duke Energy and PowerStream.”
The discipline of Asset Management was one of the central themes of the summit. CMO Boudewijn Neijens commented, “Copperleaf is a strong supporter of the advancement of asset management, and we play a key role in organisations such as ISO, Cigré and the Institute of Asset Management (IAM). We were honoured to welcome ISO/TC251 Chair Rhys Davies as our keynote speaker this year. Rhys has driven the development of the ISO 5000x Standard since its inception and spoke about the standard’s rapid uptake around the world, and the importance of aligning asset management with corporate strategy.”
“I’m always excited to attend events where people are talking about, and actively debating, what value means for them, and discussing the rules and criteria they use to make decisions,” said Rhys Davies, President of eAsset Management and Chair of the ISO/TC251 Committee. “What I’ve seen at the Copperleaf AIPM Summit is a lot of debate about value, criteria for making decisions (beyond just technical and safety criteria), risk, and a long-term view. And for me, that’s what asset management is all about.”
According to long-time attendee Joanna Lam, Generation Asset Management Engineer at BC Hydro, “I’ve been coming to the Copperleaf AIPM Summit since the very beginning. Our goal is to find opportunities to collaborate—not just with Copperleaf, but with all of the other utilities that use C55 as well. We find the topics very relevant to how we use Copperleaf every day. It’s not just technical presentations but it’s about how we apply the tool in real life.”
Matt Fulghum, Director of Asset Investment Planning & Management at ONE Gas added, “We attend the AIPM Summit to collaborate with other organizations and industries to understand how they use Copperleaf C55. It helps us better leverage this powerful tool and implement best practices, giving us the opportunity to lead the industry we’re in.”
Next year’s conference will be held from May 9-11 in Vancouver. To learn more about the Copperleaf Community and the AIPM Summit, view the video.
